so,
it is my understanding we have no OR or WA site and we're not going to?
well, i have a vehicle, can make it roll, and know a bit about how to keep
a large group of freaks alive in the forest.
i can leave from sunnyvale at 6pm friday, i understand rtype and crispen
are ready to go, my schedule is getting real twisted between work and
other mutant activities at the moment so you're lucky i have the whole
weekend to spend at all...
anyway, i hear kings canyon contains a huge area of national forest. i am
also trying to get the location of a successful 3-day party in mendocino
national forest several years ago called trust replicate. the site was
straight west of willis, walking distance from the eel river. at 5000+
feet, near a fire lookout tower, where the fire ranger was friendly and
helpful. i have a good feeling about mendocino, and i imagine it is closer
for OR/WA folks. i would be willing to scout either forest first, though
the tiny amount of time is definetly not enough to do either justice.
PLEASE someone read topographical maps from now until when we leave and
provide input. criteria-
0) free of fire risk
1) close to fast moving mountaintop streams
2) dry ground, occasional flat open meadows to party in
3) shade and dead firewood
4) not on cattle land
5) swimming pond within a mile or down the road
we have all been totally asleep at the wheel on this one, it would help
immensely if we could contact a knowledgable local guide for either
forest.
secondary planning-
i don't know what's going on with cooking/water as i am out of loop. i
intend to find a site with natural water suitable for filtering, and
bringing my little hand-pump filter and enough filter elements for 400
gallons. someone bring a shovel. and don't forget the NOIZE!
anyway, call me cell 847-630-0525
